Job Description

Advancing People are working closely with an International Software business who are looking for a Technical Author / Technical Writer with exceptional communication skills, working remotely, whilst being able to visit their office based in Bedford for team meetings.

Our client is looking to interview immediately and will on-board a suitable candidate ASAP.

The role:

This varied and challenging Technical Author role will be performing an important role, delivering accurate and meaningful documentation relating to an emerging, highly innovative and rapidly growing software solution platform.

Within the experienced core development team you will need to grasp conceptual understanding of the many features and benefits of their software platform.

You will have responsibility for documenting and providing user-friendly content that will be accessed via an online portal and help functions. This content needs to be accurate, in-depth but also engaging and easy to understand.

The portal and Help features are used frequently and are heavily relied upon in order for users to understand each setting and feature, demonstrating what various settings do and how to use them.

Creating and documenting at the end of every release cycle, you will be immersed into identifying any changes to the existing offerings - working closely with other members of the team for technical and user updates.

In addition to this you will be expected to pro-actively explore and learn all about our client's products and services, focusing on how this relates to the accuracy of your documentation. Technical accuracy is key so you will need to be a quick learner to understand complex features of the software now and as it evolves.

You will have the skills to take this information, understand it from a customer point of view and then clearly document the information based on what they need to know and want, when reading your documentation.

The candidate:

Our client will consider candidates from a variety of industry backgrounds, the successful candidate will be technically competent and will have a confident, bright and outgoing personality. You'll be a strong team player with the ability to remain collaborative and vocal, whilst working remotely.

A background in hands on technical writing is more important that the sector you work in - a software sector background is not essential but the ability to take on new information quickly is a key part of this role.

As well as being able to take on the various parts of this role you will have a natural ability to communicate tactfully, often at a technical level, internally and externally. Self-motivated, flexible and positive with the ability to work using your own initiative.

Strong time management is a must - having the ability to manage multiple projects at various stages.

Proven experience of grasping technical concepts is essential.

You will be well-educated, a strong communicator verbally and in writing, with a natural flair for creating technically based content in a format that can be easily understood by an end user.

Full training and ongoing support is provided by our client and the immediate Core Development team.

If you can demonstrate you have been in a similar technical author role, then this could be the role for you…

You will be given a laptop, soft phone and all the tools you need for the role, along with a very supportive line manager that will provide a full and detailed induction in the role.

Our client has a proven track record of developing staff and empowering them to be free-thinking in the role and not to work from a script.

You will need to have a full and clean driving licence to be considered for this role.

There is a competitive basic salary range available for this Technical Author role depending on the level of your experience, plus benefits with full ongoing support, training and genuine career opportunities.

If you have the technical writing experience our client is looking for then apply now or contact Dominic Quirke at Advancing People directly, for immediate consideration, in complete confidence.
